Terms of Service

Last updated: 2026-02-26

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of BriefBook ("the Service"), operated by Vladimir Pavlov. By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms in full. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. The Service

BriefBook provides original, independently written summaries of design books. Each summary presents key ideas in condensed form and is not a reproduction of the original work. Summaries are accessible via a paid subscription. We reserve the right to change, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time, with reasonable notice where practicable.

2. Accounts

You must create an account to access paid content. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials and for all activities that occur under your account. Notify us immediately at hello@briefbook.app if you suspect unauthorised access. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

3. Subscriptions & Billing

Access to the full library requires a paid subscription billed on a recurring basis. Payments are processed by Paddle, who acts as Merchant of Record for all transactions. The applicable price and billing interval are displayed at checkout. Subscription fees are charged at the start of each billing period. It is your responsibility to ensure your payment details remain current.

4. Cancellation

You may cancel your subscription at any time from your account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; you retain access until then. Cancellation does not entitle you to a refund for the current period. See our Refund & Cancellation Policy for details.

5. Acceptable Use

You may use the Service for personal, non-commercial purposes only. You agree not to:

  • Copy, reproduce, redistribute, sell, or sublicense any content from the Service;
  • Scrape, crawl, or systematically download content in bulk;
  • Share account credentials with others;
  • Use the Service in any way that violates applicable laws or regulations;
  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the Service or its infrastructure.

6. Intellectual Property

All summaries, editorial content, design, and code on BriefBook are the intellectual property of Vladimir Pavlov and are protected by copyright. Original book titles, author names, and publishers are referenced for identification purposes only. BriefBook does not claim ownership of the underlying source books. See our Copyright & Fair Use Policy for more information.

7. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of viruses or other harmful components.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Vladimir Pavlov shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or related to your use of — or inability to use — the Service, even if advised of the possibility of such damages. Our total aggregate liability to you shall not exceed the amount you paid for the Service in the twelve months preceding the claim.

9. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision will be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.

10. Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, Cookie Policy, Refund Policy, and Copyright Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and BriefBook regarding your use of the Service and supersede all prior agreements relating to the same subject matter.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above. Material changes will be communicated via email or a notice within the Service. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.
