This Cookie Policy explains what cookies are, which ones BriefBook uses, and how you can manage them. By continuing to use the Service, you consent to our use of cookies as described here.
1. What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device by a website. They are widely used to make websites work, remember your preferences, and provide information to the site owner. We also use browser localStorage to store your reading preferences (font size, line height, font family). This data never leaves your device and is not a cookie.
2. Cookies We Use
Strictly Necessary
These cookies are required for the Service to function. They cannot be disabled without breaking core functionality.
__session (Clerk)
Manages your authenticated session. Set by Clerk, our authentication provider. Expires when you sign out or the session times out. Required to access your account and any protected content.
__client_uat, __clerk_db_jwt (Clerk)
Additional cookies set by Clerk to synchronise authentication state across tabs and validate your session securely. Session-scoped or short-lived.
Functional
These cookies are used to enable specific features. They are set only when you interact with the relevant functionality.
Paddle checkout cookies
Set by Paddle during the payment and subscription checkout flow. Used to maintain checkout session state and prevent fraud. Only active during and immediately after checkout.
3. Cookie Consent
When you first visit BriefBook, we display a cookie notice. Your preference is stored in localStorage under the key cookie-consent. You can withdraw consent at any time by clearing your browser's local storage or cookies. Note that disabling strictly necessary cookies will prevent you from signing in.
4. Managing Cookies
