Privacy Policy

Last updated: 2026-02-26

This Privacy Policy describes how BriefBook, operated by Vladimir Pavlov ("we", "us", "our"), collects, uses, and shares personal information when you use our website and services (the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to the practices described here.

1. Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of personal information:

  • Account information — your name and email address, provided when you register via Clerk (our authentication provider).
  • Payment information — billing name, email, and payment method details entered at checkout. These are processed directly by Paddle and are never stored on our servers.
  • Usage data — pages visited, features used, and actions taken within the Service, collected automatically to operate and improve the Service.
  • Technical data — IP address, browser type, and device identifiers, collected automatically by our infrastructure providers.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use personal information to:

  • Create and manage your account and authenticate your sessions;
  • Process subscription payments and manage billing;
  • Deliver and personalise the Service;
  • Send transactional emails (account verification, payment receipts, service notices);
  • Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and security incidents;
  • Improve and develop the Service.

The lawful bases for processing under GDPR are: performance of a contract (subscription and account management), legitimate interests (security, fraud prevention, service improvement), and legal obligations where applicable.

3. Third-Party Service Providers

We share your information with the following trusted service providers who process it on our behalf:

  • Clerk (clerk.com) — authentication, account management, and session handling.
  • Paddle (paddle.com) — payment processing and subscription management as Merchant of Record. Paddle has its own privacy policy and is independently responsible for data collected during checkout.
  • Sanity (sanity.io) — content management system hosting our editorial content.
  • Vercel (vercel.com) — website hosting, edge network, and infrastructure.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.

4. Cookies & Tracking

We use cookies and similar technologies to authenticate sessions and enable core functionality. See our Cookie Policy for a full breakdown.

5. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymise your personal data within a reasonable period, unless retention is required by law or legitimate business purposes (such as financial records).

6. International Transfers

BriefBook is an international service. Your data may be processed in countries outside your own, including the United States, where our service providers are based. Where required by law, we rely on appropriate safeguards (such as Standard Contractual Clauses) for transfers of data from the EEA/UK.

7. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • Access — request a copy of the data we hold about you.
  • Rectification — ask us to correct inaccurate data.
  • Erasure — request deletion of your data.
  • Restriction — ask us to limit how we process your data.
  • Portability — receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
  • Objection — object to processing based on legitimate interests.
  • Opt-out of marketing — unsubscribe at any time via email footer links.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at hello@briefbook.app. We will respond within 30 days.

8. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed at children under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
